I don’t bake with the fan on because I find that the top of the cake bakes faster than the rest of the cake. Which gives a hard crust.

Kelly: She’s wearing a diaper I have used different sizes of leaf/flower cutters for the cake.

You can make the bugs 1 month before use and store them in an airthight container.

OMG!! I love this cake, it is my little girls christening in Aug and I think I will attempt something similar, I have never attempted anything so big but you are such an inspiration.
Can you tell me what cutter you have used to make the little girls skirt and also are they a normal leaf cutter for the flowers?
If I started to make the bugs a long time before, how long would they keep? and the baby girl is she sitting on a marzipan base??
I would appreciate any help, your work is amazing and you have fantastic eye for design. Thanks you soo much:)

What a cute cake! I wish I could do the type of modelling required for the baby. And how wonderful to have chanced on this website. I made a similar cake for my great-niece’s christening, with a working waterfall, (I love OTT) and it was a hit as well. I’ll see if I can post a photo.

Thanks Louise, I took a punt and guessed at 12′, 10″ & 8″, but I am serving 100, but only coffee serves. I’ll let you know when I have completed it and the photos are up. She loved your cake but the colours weren’t right for her.

I am sorry moonlight & cupcaketastic for my late reply.

Firstly I have not yet made a tutorial for the cake topper. But maybe I will?. I have so many ideas in my head that I want to do and show but it all takes time:)

Cupcaketastic I have used from the bottom and up 12"-10" & 8" i had three layers and two fillings. It was meant to feed 85 people. It sound interesting with the christening cake. I cant wait to see it.

This cake is amazing, and I love your proportions. I have a lovely lady who’s youngest daughter is being christened next month, she requires a baby in gown topper and a ivory and pink tiered cake with the proportions similar to this one. Would you mind tell me/us what size tins you used and how many people were you aiming to feed?

Thank you so much for all the nice and sweet comments. Do I need to say it was a HIT??? I had to do the cutting bit or else no one would do it.

There are alot of work behind the scenes though I did try to make the most details on the baby and less on the bugs and so. But even a small ladybird takes her time.

Louise, can you recommend any store in Europe that sells cake decorating products in the internet. I used to buy from Squires Shop, but they don't inform which products are out of stock and I just got an order with 6 items missing due to this...
