Kara: There have been a lot of talking about the use of sugarcraft guns read here: https://cakejournal.com/archives/sugarcraft-gun/

Now I love it very very much and think it is a brilliant tool. Eventhough it can contain loads of fondant paste I find it good to work with as long as you knead in a few drops of water & some white fat to make it more pliable to push through.

You can un-screw and fill in more paste if you want a very long rope. Or try take a look at this tool: https://www.fmmsugarcraft.com/pages/fullprod.php?id=63 It will always cut straight and even ribbons in the lenght you roll out your paste.

Hi Louise!

Wonderful cake! I really love your site and I visit often. I do have a question that I hope you can help with - I am thinking about purchasing the sugarcraft gun, and I was wondering how well you are able to get long lengths of ribbons/rope/etc. In other words, do you feel that to apply a fondant rope or ribbon around a 10" cake, I would be better off just cutting one manually or using the sugarcraft gun? I know the gun is good for short lengths of ribbon, but what is your opinion of the longer length output?

Thanks so much!!

Paola: They are both pretty easy to make. The "lid" of the boxes is just pieces of fondant added to the fully covered cake. I have used a sugar gun to make the strings to cover up small gaps ect.

I would love to the cake Paola.......

Enjoy!

Thank you Louise! I have no idea how you find the time to manage this blog but I always learn so much and it is so fun to come visit. And, now, of course, there is a new toy that I want. I was thinking about the cutter/embosser from Wilton but the sugarcraft gun seems so much better and often I am disappointed when I buy Wilton products. You seem to find the best stuff.
