so much time & thought goes into making beautiful cakes it would be nice to see them featured more, in any movie but particularly cooking movies i love your daughters cake a way down…exquisite! im so glad i found your blog

Thanks for all the comments – we’ll have to wait for the next Hollywood food movie to see if this lack of desserts thing is a trend. Though, will the new popularity of Cake Boss and other cake tv shows, maybe one day we’ll get our cake movie!

I just finished reading Julie & Julia, but have not yet seen the movie. Not a lot was said in the book about cakes, so I am not really surprised there was not much about cakes in the movie. It would be impossible for every part of the book to be in the film because most people would not want to sit thru a 12 hour movie.(Except us if it was exclusively about cake!):lol:

I completely agree…I thought the movie would have been a million times better if it was just called “Julia”. I couldn’t even watch the part with the chocolate almond cake because Julie’s husband dug into it with his bare hands. He was disgusting in the film…chewing with his mouth open, eating with his hands, making loud noises whenever he ate anything. YUCK. But yeah…they give us a scene with aspic but none with cakes.

More than seeing beautifully decorated cakes, I really want to know that a cake tastes wonderful–that all the components blend to make a special and delicious cake. Would love to have those type of recipes—the decorating is frosting on the cake! Great eye appeal. I have been disappointed so many times by eating with my eyes and finding the taste result falling far below the appearance. A plain cake baked well may be enjoyed as the most exquisitely decorated one if the taste is a wondrous and satisfying experience. Give me great recipes with great decorating touches!!! Julia here I come to try some of your recipes!

And why is it, that weddingcakes in ANY movie is only showed for like 1/4 of a split-second! Would it kill anybody to let the actors do their stuff in front – or beside the darn thing? Not even, when somebody stumbles and fall into a weddingcake, you have time to check the details! That sucks.
