My son turned 8 this week and he’s a big fan of the Star Wars universe. Today we had a Star Wars themed birthday party with goodies like: Yoda soda, Vader water, Wookie cookies, Jedi Starfighter pizza, Jedi training school and of course a cake! I baked a chocolate chip cake and decorated it with blue rolled fondant, Star Wars logo and light sabers. Happy Caking! Louise

This is the bunny birthday cake that I made for my daughters birthday party. I made the bunny out of gum paste and made the fur with soft royal icing. The bunny was suposed to look alot more fluffy in the fur, since it should look like a replica of the little Lionhead bunny that we gave her. But the royal icing was a little too wet when I applied it. Also I completely forgot the whiskers. The birthday cake was a white cake with raspberry mousse and Italian Meringue Buttercream and covered with white chocolate fondant The cake was sweating a lot because it was very humid in the weather that day, so it was a little glossy when it was time to eat it. The carrot border was also made out of gum paste and turned out to be just perfect for the bunny cake. Happy Caking! Louise Btw: It is really great to see how many of you who will be featured in the 1,000 ideas for decorating cupcakes, cakes, and cookies book Now I just cant wait to see it.

My daughter is turning 9 and I will be making a birthday cake with a bunny theme this year. Last year I made a small cake with a replica of her dwarf hamster Viola, but sadly we lost Viola two weeks ago and a little Lionhead bunny is now on her whish list. So I will make a little 3D replica, since she will get a little Lionhead bunny for her birthday this year. I will give you an update later this week on how the project turns out. You can see some of the other birthday cakes that I have made for my daughter over the years below: Happy Caking! Louise

So here it is, the birthday cake made for my nieces 10th birthday party today. I made the cake design very simple with a green stem going around the cake with one large leaf on top for the LPS snail to sit on. The cake was a plain chocolate cake as requested by my niece. To finish the cake I placed some pink gerbera/daisy flowers, mostly to hide some minor cracks, but they did suit the soft yellow cake very well in the end. Remember that you can see step by step of how I made the LPS snail (without written details though) in the gallery. Happy Caking! Louise

This is the special 2 tier birthday cake that I made this weekend for my daughters 8th birthday party. A very small (4″ + 6″) cake with a replica of my daughters latest love, a dwarf hamster named Viola. She is made out of gum paste and I think that she turned out really cute. My daughter was thrilled when she saw the cake. I decorated the cake with pretty gum paste hydrangeas and some pink “fantasy” flowers and piped vines and leaves. I actually think that this design could work for a wedding cake or maybe a shabby tea party? -Without the little rodent on top of course A close up of little Miss Viola.
I made this race track birthday cake for my sons fifth birthday. The themes has always been trains except for a Lightning McQueen cake and this year it was racing car theme again. So when I saw a really cool cake design on flickr, I just knew that I had to try it out. The racing cars is made out of fondant with tylo powder so they were really firm. To cut out the stripes for the side of the cake, I used the Multi-Ribbon Tool from FMM. My birthday boy was very very happy when we served the cake Now I only need to make Ninja Turtle cupcakes for his kinder garden so I better start coloring some green fondant.
Inspired by all the beautiful colors outside. I decided to decorate my birthday cake with leaves, sunflowers, pumpkins and berries in warm colors. The flavour was almond cake, 1 layer of chocolate caramel ganache and 1 layer of applesauce vanilla mousse with apples from my moms garden. I crumb coated the cake with the lovely Italian meringue butter cream (it is amazing to work with) and Marshmallow fondant. All the decoration was made out of modelling paste and I painted the leaves with petal dust colors, mixed with alcohol. You can see another fall cake that I’ve made in the cake gallery.
I made this Littlest Pet Shop lizard cake for my nieces Birthday party. The colorflow/runout is made the same way like the one I did for my daughters Birthday. Also this time have I made some small adjustments to the motif to make it more “simple” leaving some details out and I used small pieces of white rolled fondant to make the white dots in the eye instead of painting them. She was very happy with the cake Remember that you can see photos on how I made the LPS horse in the gallery under miscellaneous cake Projects The new webhost moving part is finished and I hope that there are no errors on the site now. Should you however see something not working then please do let me know by sending me an email. Tomorrow I will try to take some photos of how I make the Italian Meringue Butter Cream for you to see and then my own Birthday is coming up on Monday so I have to think of a little sweet treat to celebrate my day with.
So here is the photo of the birthday cake I made for my daughters 7th years birthday party. The cake was a light vanilla cake in three layers, raspberry coulis and raspberry mousse and white whipped chocolate ganache with chopped dark chocolate. It is covered with marzipan and rolled fondant. I used some of my pearl spray from PME to give it a nice shine. I also used my sugarcraft gun to make the border. It tasted really good Happy Caking!
This is my latest birthday cake. I made it for sweet Rosalina that turned 18th. She is a very creative person and have many hobbies. I wanted to give her a very personal birthday cake and tried to put on all the things that she loves the most like music, singing, drawing and acting. She also loves white roses and blue cornflowers. I used a mix of flower paste and sugar paste for the flowers and leaves. The other decorations was made out of modelling paste. The musical notes and the lettering is made by using Fmm tappit sets. The teddy’s fur is made of butter cream icing with a Wilton Multi-Open decorating Tip no 233 and the snout, ears, feet and eyes is attached with rolled fondant. The direction on how to make the teddy bear cake, can be found in the book: A cake for a christening by Karen Davies. You can see two of my teddy bear cakes here and here.
I made this cake for my daughters birthday yesterday. She loves Strawberry Shortcake and this is Honey Pie Pony’s little friend Honey Doodle. I have use the run-out technique and Honey Doodle is made straight on the cake. First I traced the template to the cake by using a needle and marked all the lines. Then I outlined the bee with royal icing using no.2 tip. I have then flooded with royal icing thinned down with water. I painted the small details on the face with edible brown petal dust dissolved in a little clear alcohol. I attached a few sugar flowers and have used my Sugarcraft-gun to make robes to finish off the cake. My daughter was thrilled when we took the cake with her to school:) Happy Caking!
