How to make an Easter egg cake

easter egg cake

Since Easter is coming up soon, I have been stocking up on all the awesome Easter candies.

Currently, I am obsessed with these mini easter egg candies, which are just so cute and colorful.

I used them to make a very easy and bright cake, perfect for Spring/Easter time.

To make this cake, you will need the following supplies:

Chopped up Oreos
Easter sprinkles
Green buttercream icing
Mini easter egg candies

And this is what you need to do:

Step 1:
Cover your cake in green buttercream icing.
Then, stick some Easter sprinkles all around your cake.
Also, toss some sprinkles around the base of your cake. You can also pipe a border, if you like.

Step 2:
Break Oreo cookies into small pieces.
Arrange these pieces on top of the cake in the shape of a hollow circle.

Note:
I used Oreos to make the nest but you can use chopped up mini pretzels or chocolate curls.

Step 3:
Now, gently start placing your mini easter egg candies inside this Oreo nest.

Tip:
These eggs are really “wobbly” and when they fall off your cake, the Oreo pieces end up falling as well. This makes a big mess and leaves black crumbs all over your cake…Eeks!

To prevent this from happening, use melted chocolate or thick royal icing to glue the eggs on top of each other. Problem solved…YAY! :D
