Candy themed parties are always a big hit. So I have made a little tutorial on how you very easy can make some sweet gum paste candy.
Use the gum paste candy on cakes, cupcakes and brownies. You can change the shape of the candy to round or oblong if you like that shape better.
This is what I use:
Gum paste
Gel paste food colors
Corn starch (to prevent the gum paste from sticking to your hands)
Tylo glue
Frilling tool
Non-stick rolling pin
Small pieces of kitchen paper
Small brush
sharp knife
Before you start:
Color your gum paste with the gel paste food colors.
Step 1:
Take a piece of gum paste and roll it into a ball without any cracks. Shape it with your fingers into a square with “soft” edges. Next make a hole with the frilling tool in each of the short sides. Remember to make it a bit bigger for the “wrapping paper”. Set a side and let it dry slightly.
Step 2:
Roll out some gum paste very thinly and cut a small strip. Make two small ruffles and cut it off like shown on the photo.
Step 3:
Make the “wrapping” ruffle a little pointy in one end. Add a little glue in the holes and attache the “wrapping” ruffle.
Step 4:
Use pieces of kitchen paper as support until the tylo glue is all dry. Let your gum paste candy dry over night.
When the gum paste candy is all dry use it to adorn your baked cakes to make them even more sweeter.
Happy Caking!

You can use either just gum paste or half flower/sugarpaste. Both works great.

Hi Louise. I’m new to gum paste and fondant and I have tried many gum paste recipes but not of them turn out very good. Most of them are not pliable and also develop cracks. Can you tell me the gum paste and fondant recipes that you use?
Anonymous
I use a store bought fondant for covering cakes ect. and make my gum paste by adding 1-2 tsp of Tylo powder, 1 tbsp of egg white & a little white vegetable fat (Crisco) to about 500 grams of fondant.

Id like to know if these are edible as well and can you use fondant only?
Anonymous
You can eat them and you can also use fondant only. You may need to let them dry a little bit longer.

You could do that, yes. But if you do so, you must remember to inform about the nuts.
