In today’s tutorial…I will show you how to make the simplest tulips ever, using the most basic tools.

This tutorial is also very versatile because you can use these same instructions to make decorated cookies like I did OR use them to make cupcake toppers.

This is what I used:
Orange flavored sugar cookies (Diameter: approximately 3 inches)
Yellow fondant
Bright pink or red fondant
Green fondant
Corn syrup or royal icing
Powdered sugar for dusting work surface
Rolling pin
Smallest heart cutter from the Wilton heart cutter set
Circle cutter (Diameter: approximately 3 inches)
Toothpicks
Paintbrush
Knife

Step 1:
Roll out yellow fondant.
Use a circle cutter to cut out a yellow piece. The cutter should be the same size as your cookie.

Step 7:
Bring out your fondant covered cookie.
Brush some corn syrup on the area where you want your tulip to be located.
Each tulip will need 3 tear drops.
Start off by sticking one tear drop in the center. Then stick another tear drop on its right and another tear drop on its left.

Step 8:
Press a toothpick gently along each tear drop to make these tulips look a little realistic.

Step 9:
Bring out your green fondant.
Roll it into a long and thin rope. This will be the stem of the tulip.
Use some corn syrup to stick it into place.

Step 14:
Use corn syrup to stick this leaf along the side of the stem.
Add as many leaves as you like. I added 3 leaves in total.

Step 15:
This is optional but to make the leaves look a bit more realistic, I use my index finger and thumb to twist the sides of the leaves VERY gently.
