How to make Minion Cupcake Toppers

Whether your favorite character is Dave or Kevin or Donny or John, Minions are so popular.  This tutorial will show you how to make these cute little guys to place on your cupcakes.

This is what I used:

Fondant (white, black, grey and yellow)
rolling pin
large round cutter
medium round cutter (not shown)
small round cutter
piping tip #10
Gum glue (not in the photo)

Step 1:

Roll out the yellow fondant to a 1/4 inch thickness.  Using the large cutter make a cut.

Step 2:

Roll out the white fondant to 1/4 inch thickness, and using the small cutter make a cut.

Step 3:

Roll out the black fondant to 1/8 inch thickness and make a 2″ by 0.5 ” strip.

Step 4:

Using the grey fondant, roll it out to 1/8 inch thickness and using the medium cutter make a cut. Then using the small round cutter place the cutter in the middle of the grey circle and make a cut.

Step 5:

Taking the outer part of the grey circle fondant piece you just cut, place it onto the edge of the white round circle. Press around the edges to join the pieces. If your round circle gets out of shape, take the medium round cutter again and make another clean cut.

Take the black fondant strip cut before and cut it in half.

Step 7:

Step 8:

Roll a small ball of black fondant. Press it flat with your finger.  Then using the gum glue, attach it to the centre part of the white eye.

Step 9: 

Roll two oblong shaped pieces of grey fondant.  Using the gum glue attached the grey piece to either sides of the eye on top of the black strips.

Step 10:

Using the knife draw on a smile.

And there you go.  A simple, fun minion cupcake topper.
