How to make a polka dot flower cake topper

I have a slight obsession with polka dots and I can’t resist buying anything with a polka dot pattern on it…lol. Naturally, I like to use polka dots on my cakes as well. So, today, I will be showing you how to make these fun polka dot flowers.

I think these are really cute for a girly baby shower. But, you can also make a blue version for a boyish baby shower.

Watch video tutorial below:

To make them, you will need the following supplies:

Pink gumpaste or 50/50
White gumpaste or 50/50
Round tip (Wilton # 12)
Flower cutter
Stamens
Blue sugar crystals
Rolling pin
Scissors
Water
Paintbrush

And here are the steps:

Step 1: Start off by rolling out pink gum paste.

Step 2: Then, roll out white gum paste.

Step 3: Use your round tip to make small circle pieces and place them on top of the pink gumpaste

Step 4: Once you have enough, flatten these circles with a rolling pin.

Step 5: Use your flower cutter to cut out a piece and place it on a flower-forming cup.

Step 6: For the center, make a small ball of white gum paste.

Step 7: Brush some water on your white ball and start rolling it in blue sugar crystals until the ball is fully coated.

Step 8: Now, use your scissors to cut the stamens into half inch pieces. You don’t need the main chunky top. So, you can discard that.

Step 9: Start pushing these pieces individually along the sides of your sparkly blue ball.

Step 10: Brush some water in the center of your flower and stick your sparkly blue ball here.

And you are done!

Let these flowers dry overnight and then use them on your cakes and cupcakes.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
