I have that book! The only recipe I've made is for Royal Icing, but I've used it a lot! I've never decorated a cake like the ones in her book, but it has really inspired me.

JR: So far I have not tried the recipes from both books. I've heard that the banana cake should be good. I have other books that I have great results with the recipes. But I think the problem often is the ingrediens, ovens and the feeling when you make cakes.

I have a few that fail badly when I make them but that always end with great success when others make them. So strange....

Michelle: Sound exciting with the book :-) what I meant with the photos is that of course I dont expect that there are fully detailed photos to every project. But at least 4 that clearly shows how to make some of it. I think that when writing a book you have to remember that not all can do it as they read the directions. But with a few photos it makes more sense.
It would have been great if there in the Confetti book had been more photos as I find 3-4 pages of only text and no detail photos on how you do is too much reading. Even if it is "easy" reading.

When I make tutorials I sometimes maybe add 1 photo than necessary and I do try to keep it simple. But sometimes the steps needs to have an extra photo so that it can be understanded by others than yourself.

Another thing that also would be nice is that its not everyone who can get the specific ingrediens so sometime another option would be good to know.

Hope you can use the tips.

Dear Lou, I have to say your blog keeps me inspired. This is the first time I have posted. What prompted me to write was your comment about there not being enough photos in the book to help make the cakes. My aim for 2009 is to have my own book published and I was wondering is there anything else you would like to see in books that sometimes is not there. What makes a great book? I would really appreciate your thoughts as you have a great insight when you review books.
Thanks and bye for now, Michelle

I have the first Confetti Cakes book and it's a visual pleasure, but I've tried a couple of the cake recipes with the end result of bitter disappointment. The cakes were dry, very crumbly and nearly inedible. I've made many scratch cakes but none as bad as the ones from Elisa's first book. I hope the recipes in the Confetti Kids book are better.

Gis: Sweety, ohh I forgot about it. But maybe I still can make a little something eventhough I have to be in the photo too xD.

ELENA: Cool if you can get the books signed :D

Jodie: I love the book but yes a couple of photos would be really nice and helpful. Its not all who just get it while reading the book.

SugaryG: I hope that santa brings it too you :-)

Toni: Its the best when you can add a new book to the collection.

Debbie Sapienza: Theres a link at the bottom of the review ;-)

nenu: Me too.....

Kris: Thank you :D
