About 6 months ago, I tried to make fondant baby shoes for the first time and it ended in a complete disaster! lol However, I learnt from those mistakes and I am now very excited to share the perfect template and tutorial for making these cute baby sneakers You can make them in any color you like and these shoes are perfect as cake toppers for baby showers or any baby event. This is what I used: Rolling pin Dark green 50/50 OR gum paste (please read the note below) Light green 50/50 OR gum paste (please read the note below) Shortening Wilton’s tip#3 Quilting tool (to create stitch marks) Knife Fondant cutter or pastry cutter (preferably with a small wheel) Gum paste glue or corn syrup (I used corn syrup) Templates (Please print them from Step 1) Paintbrush Wax paper or parchment paper Clay extruder Cotton balls Large circle cutter from the Wilton circle cutter set Small shot glass or a small bottle Toothpicks Scissors NOTE: I prefer using 50/50 to make these shoes because it does not dry as fast as gum paste. Sometimes, I even make 70/30 (70% gum paste and 30% fondant). Using 50/50 or 70/30 [...]

I have been waiting to show you my latest cake. A two tier cake, decorated with owls, hearts and flowers for a girls Christening party. The flavor combinations for the cakes were: Dark chocolate mud cake, raspberry mousse and chocolate ganache. Crumb coated with Italian Meringue Buttercream and covered with rolled fondant. For the younger guests of the party. I baked some vanilla cupcakes with a spread of royal icing, sprinkles and fondant flowers. All matching the color scheme of the Christening cake. I made the owls by using an egg shaped cookie cutter and used the pointy end of the egg cutter to cut off the top of the “egg/owl”. A small oval fondant cutter was used for the “belly”. This methode could be easily be used, if you want to make fondant decorated sugar cookie owls for your next party. Happy Caking!
This Pingu christening cake was made as a gift for our best friends little boy Magnus. The parents both love Pingu, so it was easy to decide what should be sitting on top of the cake. Both Pingu and the toys are made from rolled fondant mixed with Tylo powder (CMC). I also made the Pingu cake topper on thin cardboard, so that they could keep the topper as a keepsake. Inside the cake was a moist chocolate cake and raspberry mousse (recipes on the way). I coated the cake with Italian Meringue Buttercream and covered it with rolled fondant in a pretty ice blue color. I used some cookie cutters to cut out his name and the christening date was embossed on the round circles. The cake was a huge success! Happy Caking! Louise

I made this christening cake for my husbands cousins sweet baby girl Mathilde. A three tier cake in bright colors with flowers, toadstools, butterflies, ladybirds, caterpillars and small snails. I have made all the decorations out of gum paste. The baby cake topper is partly made of marzipan and gum paste. It have been a secret about the cake design. So when the parents saw the cake they were overwhelmed. I was so happy that they liked it. I am also a bit tired now as there have been a lot of work with this cake. Happy Caking! Louise
