Styrofoam cake dummies can be transformed into sweet ruffled 1 tier cake stands. Perfect to use, if you are planning to make a vintage dessert table. Place your sweet treats like cookies and cupcakes on the ruffled cake stand or use it as a sweet display to hold your cake pops. It can be made in different heights and sizes. You could even make a 2 tier cupcake stand if you like. Simply just place a 6″ round cake dummy on a 12″ round cake dummy and you will have the sweetest ruffled cupcake stand, that would hold just about 12-13 regular cupcakes. I hope that you will enjoy my little crafty tutorial. This is what I used: Round styrofoam cake dummies. You can also use square or rectangular cake dummies (I glued two 2″ round dummies together) Craft paper + Crepe paper sheets in matching colors White craft glue + a brush Pencil & scissors Double-sided tape Needle + cotton thread that match the color of the crepe paper Ribbon/embellishments Step 1: Trace the outline of the cake dummy onto the craft paper with a pencil ad cut out with scissors. Step 2: Add white craft glue on the [...]

I am still in the sweet candy mood. So here are my paper craft version of the gum paste candy that I made last month. Note: Crepe paper colors will run if the paper gets wet. Remove the cupcake toppers before eating and remember that the cupcake toppers are not toys for small children. This is what I use: Crepe paper Glue stick Cocktail sticks Small styrofoam balls 1″ in size or smaller. Scissors Craft glue Sewing thread Step 1: Cut a piece of crepe paper long enough to go around the styro ball and wide enough to make the “wrapping ends”. Step 2: Hold the styro ball with two fingers and use the glue stick in the middle of the styro ball. Remember to go all the way round. Step 3: Place the styro ball in the middle of the crepe paper and roll the paper around the ball. Set a side and let the it dry a little. Step 4: Tie the ends with sewing thread and cut off excess thread. Step 5: If the ends are too long cut off to desired length and “fluff” the ends. Step 6: Dip a cocktail stick in the craft glue. [...]

We have been celebrating shrovetide this weekend. The kids put on costumes for the celebration and they hit on a decorated wooden barrel filled with candy, just like a Piñata. We also eat buns filled with chocolate or cream. This year my daugther Alberte wanted to be a sweet pink cupcake, so I had to do some research on Google for cupcake costume ideas. It took me quite some time thinking and re-thinking on how to best “bake” this costume. I used an old pink sheet for the “frosting” and stuffed it well with Poly fill. Alberte helped me, making the sprinkles out of Silk Clay. The sprinkles dried up light as a feather and was just glued on with craft glue. The hardests part of the whole costume was the fluted cupcake base, but after some help from my husband we managed to find a solution that we were all happy with. To finish off her costume, I made her a little head piece out of two “layers” of pink frosting, a crepe paper ruffle and a blue candle on top. She is the sweetest cupcake that I have ever made and she even won a prize for best [...]

I heart paper cones. These sweet cones can be used for almost every holiday season, gift wrapping or party favors, the list is long. Made in coordinating colors and pretty stylish embellishments, i’m sure that the receiver of a paper cone will be very excited to see what it’s hiding inside. When I first posted a paper cone a long time ago, lots of you asked me for a tutorial. With Valentine’s Day soon approaching, I decided to make it in the classic Valentine’s colors: Pink and red. So I hope that you will enjoy yourself with my little crafty: How to make a paper cone tutorial. This is what I use: Template for the paper cone Card stock paper Crepe paper (8-by-18″-rectangle) Craft glue stick Double-sided tape Staple Pencil & scissor Ribbon Embellishments Large disposable piping bag, if you plan to fill your paper cone with cookies (not on the photo) Step 1: Trace the cone template onto card stock paper and cut out. Step 2: Because this cone shape can be a bit difficult to obtain. It will make it a little more easier, if you pre-roll the cone. I find that “molding” the pointy end with my [...]

Visit your craftstore, to find all sorts of paper punches, embellishments, ribbons and scrapbooking paper to make unique cupcake paper toppers to decorate your cupcakes. I have only used circle and scallops punches, but you can of course use almost all sorts of paper punches for this project. This is what I use: Paper punches, my blue scallop punch are 2″.
I love to craft things that I can use for beautiful gift wrapping for my homemade treats. This paper cone will hide the sweet cookie hearts decorated with rolled fondant. Maybe for a little Valentine’s Day gift? Remember that if you use rolled fondant on your cookies Then let them dry for 1-2 days in a cardboard box. That will “harden” the rolled fondant, so it wont be sticky when packing. Also the cookies can make grease marks on the paper. So remember to pack them in a plastic/cellophane bag or grease proff paper, before packing them in paper gift boxes or like here a paper cone. Happy Caking! Louise

I am already busy with the preparations for this years Halloween holiday and making Halloween cookie baskets is one of my (many) projects. I will be using them as gifts for friends and family this year and I still need to make seven more baskets. Just to see how they look with cookies, have I filled it with some pumpkin cookies. But I will also make other types of Halloween themed cookies like: Spiders, creepy eyes, ghosts, coffins and tombstones. Im sure that the receivers will be thrilled, when they get them for Halloween. What type of Halloween cookies do you bake? Do you have a favorite one or do you just bake a mixed variety of “frightening” cookies? Please tell me:-) Happy Caking!
I think when serving cupcakes or mini cakes, they look so much better when served on a cake stand. So I have made a tutorial that will show you how to make a cupcake cake stand. When you have all the materials ready it is very easy and quick to make. You can adapt it to the colour or pattern on your cakes. I have used thick gift wrap paper to cover the cake boards. If you like you can place a 6″ cake on the top tier. I would not recommend to place any larger cake on top. A 5 TIER CAKE STAND CAN HOLD ABOUT 51 REGULAR CUPCAKES. This is what I have used: Cake boards: 1×8″, 1×10″, 1×12″ Note: If you want two more tiers on the stand, you will need 1×14″ + 1×16″ cake boards. Styrofoam cake dummies Each 2″ high in the sizes: 2X6″ and 2×7″ (If you can get 4″ high Styrofoam cake dummies, then you will only need 1 in each size) Note: You will need 2×8″ 2×9″ Styrofoam cake dummies for two more tiers. Satin ribbon, enough for both cake boards and the Styrofoam cake dummies Thick paper Glue stick or double [...]
