Wilton Method of Cake Decorating Review + 2 Week Membership

by Louise 1 Comment

I recently got the opportunity to review Wilton Method of Cake decorating by Emily Tatak, hosted by Creative Bug and I was very excited.

You can watch the promo of this class here:  https://youtu.be/zNfih5ZVttw

I am very fond of Wilton supplies as well as their cake decorating classes.

After all, it was one of those Wilton cake decorating classes where I first got introduced to cake decorating and that led to a cake decorating addiction ! 😀

This is a 4 week course and during the 4 weeks, you will learn the following:

1) Bake a naked, layered chocolate cake.
2) Make easy royal icing flowers.
3) Make a tiered fondant cake with metallic circles.
4) Decorate cupcakes with buttercream.

I felt that this was a very basic beginner’s course and it’s great for anyone who has just started off cake decorating and is intimidated by all that’s involved…Baking, torting, working with fondant and icings e.t.c.

If you are a more experienced cake decorator, I don’t think you would benefit too much from this course, with regards to decorating techniques. That’s because most techniques were very simple like making those drop flowers and cupcake swirls.

BUT, you could still pick up on a few tips and tricks, especially when it comes to baking cakes. For instance, Emily talks about how to make cakes without cracked tops, crowning and crusty edges. That was certainly very informative for me  🙂

These are the pictures of cakes you will learn to make in this class…

A pretty naked cake with a simple buttercream rose on top…

Various decorated cupcakes.

They may look hard to make but Emily shows how to make them easily 🙂
