Couture for cupcakes

by Louise 23 Comments

Its amazing to see how fashion has made its way to cupcakes. You can now dress up your cupcakes with beautiful paper wrappers in almost every colour and pattern. So of course I had to try them out myself 🙂

The pink wrappers are made by Lisa Mudrakoff from Vancouver. She is the owner and designer behind the online “cupcake boutique” called Cupcake Wrapture. She started one day just for fun making a template out of scrapbook paper. When she posted the results on flickr and other forum sites the response for the wrappers was so positive and many wanted to know where they could get the wrappers.

So Lisa made more and decided to try and turn the wrappers into business. A long and complicated process but now the “doors” are open to Cupcake Wrapture.

Lisa says: My website is set up like a “boutique for cupcakes” –
with different collections!

You can get:
Off the Rack – in solid colours $5.00 per dozen.
Holiday – Christmas, Valentine’s day and Easter patterns $6.50 per dozen.
Seasonal – a changing collection of patterned wraps $6.50 per dozen.
Haute Couture – the evening gowns of the cupcake world $9.00 per dozen

So there should be no problems for you to find the right “dress” for your baked cupcakes. Besides cupcake wrappers, Lisa also makes amazing cakes, cupcakes and cookies under the name Queene of Tartes.

Happy Caking

Louise

Louise, can you please tell me where you purchase the thermo tip 11 from? I’ve googled but can’t find anything and I so love your perfect swirls on those yummy looking cupcakes. And can you tell me how many liners come to a package? I couldn’t find any info regarding this on the site

Lady MSG: I use a plastic tip called “Thermo” this is tip 11

Toni: dont you have the lace-cut ones?? I really like these as they are a bit cheaper than the other ones.

Marielba: Im glad that you find the post usefull. Thats whats its all about 🙂

Shira: I finish this comment off with the recipe. THX

Sweetcakes: This is a tip 11 from Thermo.

Ulla: det er en heftig chokolade fudge frosting. Minder meget om den fra KP altsĂĄ den som Ebban har posted.

Cake Bunny: Well the new style in my photo’s is because of my new light box 🙂 and my brother have lent me his brilliant Canon lens.

Kate from oz: You bake like normal and put the cc in the wrap (still in the paper cases) just before you are going to decorate. You can get the laser-cut ones from here https://www.shopbakersnook.com/329.html They ship to the oz 🙂

Kerry rowe: yep here it comes:

Chocolate butter cream: (If you use a good dark cocoa powder you may want to reduce the amount of it. Its strong in taste)

    2 cups icing sugar
    3/4 cup cocoa powder
    1 cup of unsalted butter
    3-5 tbsp of milk
    pinch of salt

Mix it all well. It may take more/less icing sugar or milk.

Lovely idea! Although, maybe she should have YOU take the pictures for her website, as her pics are quite grey and drab. Doesn’t do her pretty products much good! Your pictures make me want to bake!! Thanks for directing us towards the new product line :o)

Do these cute little cupcake wrappers arrive flat or preformed? I couldn’t find any details on the Cupcake Wrapture site (fantastic name!).
