End of Summer Sweets

August 13, 2013 by CJ [email protected] 2 Comments

With the end of summer rapidly approaching, I thought it would be the perfect time to share a few very summer-y treats that aren’t quire appropriate for cooler weather.

There are a few weeks left to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, warm sunshine, and all that lazy summer days and balmy summer nights have to offer, so why not also bring a sweet treat along?

From picnics to BBQs, backyard gatherings to summer soirees, you’ll find just what you need to make your last few summer get together a little bit “sweeter.”

Summer Desserts

End of Summer Sweets

1: This Peach Trifle sounds so heavenly and would be perfect for a backyard BBQ! That way, you don’t have to worry about transporting it, so the peaches, blueberries, and layers of goodness remain picture perfect.

2: These Super Sunny Lemon Bars are my most favorite lemon bar recipe, hands down. I have spent countless hours perfecting the sweet-tart ratio, and know I’ve found a winner. Serve icy cold with a sprinkle of powdered sugar, fresh berries, or other garnish. {My cousins love these, and for every birthday, they request an entire pan of bars just for them!}

3: A perfect treat to keep chilled in the cooler, these Cheesecakes in a Jar are totally travel-friendly! I plan on making these for a night out at a local vineyard in Nashville. You will be sure to wow your guests with these adorable treats.

4: Lemon + blueberry is such an idyllic summer flavor combination, so these Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake Bars are just right for an end of summer soiree. They’re really beautiful, too! I love how the rich blueberry color seeps into the bars.

5: This Strawberry Chocolate Chip Icebox Cake is so summery, and I love the layered look of it. This would be a delicious addition to any type of party, from a Sunday morning brunch to an evening birthday bash!

6: Mmmm. Grilled peaches! This recipe for Grilled Peaches with Brown Sugar Pecan Crumble is sure to impress your dinner party guests. I love the grill lines on the peaches, and can already smell the brown sugar melting all over the warm fruit. Yum!

7: Ooey gooey marshmallows + chocolate + graham crackers sounds like summer to me! Make these S’mores Bars for a less messy version of s’mores, but just as good as the real deal. These would sweeten up any kids’ (or adults’) party!

8: These Mini Key Lime Pies are so cute! I love how you can really see the layers, and the slice of lime on top really adds that finishing touch.

9: This Triple Berry Cobbler looks absolutely amazing. Rustically chic, with a touch of southern flair. Use whatever berries are fresh in your area to keep the local flavors alive!
