Just in time for Fall and Thanksgiving, today I’m going to share with you how to make super Easy Pumpkin Cupcake Toppers! These can be made so quickly and they will dress up cupcakes for any and all fall parties!
This cupcake topper can be made with 2 ingredients and a few simple tools (nothing special required!).
All you need is orange fondant and whole cloves. As far as any tools you need, any small kitchen knife will do!
Are you ready to make some super cute and easy fondant pumpkins?
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Orange Fondant
- Whole Cloves
- Small Kitchen Knife (I’m using a stainless steel paring knife)
Step 1: Tear off a small piece of fondant and roll into a smooth ball. You can make these as big or as small as you need… mine were about 1.5″ round.
Step 2: Using the back-side (the dull size) of the knife blade, start the bottom of the ball and roll the knife up toward the top to make the lines. Here are a few more pics… I sort of rolled it up, bottom to top.
Step 3: Turn the ball of fondant slightly and repeat – going all the way around the ball to make the lines on the pumpkin.
Step 4: I forgot to take a pic of this step, but using the corner of your knife handle, push down in the center of the top of the pumpkin where the lines meet. This is what it’ll look like:
Ignore my freaky blurred fingers…. it’s the only pic I got without the “stem”.
Step 5: Now here’s the really easy part that makes this little pumpkin so stinkin’ cute… just put a whole clove on top! I pushed it down into the center a little bit, but they’re also cute sitting flush on top!
Step 6: I squeezed the fondant up snug around the bottom of the “stem” so it would stay put and to make sure my pumpkin had a really cute shape!
Step 7: And that’s it! If you’re fondant is super soft, you may want to let them rest and dry overnight. If it’s firm enough, you can go ahead an put these straight onto a cupcake (or cake) for an adorable fall decoration!

Happy Caking!
