How to make a chocolate snowflake topper

December 25, 2013 by CJ [email protected] 3 Comments

chocolate snowflake topper
Most people won’t call me very girly but there is one “girly” thing I like a lot… SPARKLES! Hehe 😀

That’s why I have decided to show you how to make a sparkly chocolate snowflake topper. They are very simple to make and work great for Winter themed or even Christmas themed cakes/cupcakes.

You can also make them in various sizes to match the size of your cakes and cupcakes.

To make them, you will need the following supplies:

White chocolate
Piping bag
Sparkling sugar
Edible silver spray
Silver pearls
White pearls
Corn syrup
White paper
Wax paper or parchment paper
Tape
Pencil
Ruler

And here are the steps:

Step 1:
Start off by drawing an outline of your cake pan on a sheet of paper. This way, your snowflake will be the same size as your cake.

Step 2:
Use a pencil and a ruler to draw lines inside the circle…just the way I did.
And you will end up with somewhat of a rough snowflake template.

Step 3:
Place a sheet of wax paper on top of your template.
Secure it in place with some tape.

Step 4:
Fill a piping bag with melted white chocolate and outline your snowflake template.
Make sure that the lines are very thick or else your snowflake can break later…

Step 5:
Now, give this snowflake a bit of a shine by applying some silver spray.

Step 6:
Quickly sprinkle some white sparkling sugar all over the snowflake before the chocolate hardens.

Step 7:
Place a silver edible pearl in the center.

Step 8:
And stick some white pearls over the remaining areas of your snowflake.
If your chocolate is still soft, these pearls will simply stick on their own. But, if it has already hardened, then, use corn syrup to stick them.

Step 9:
When the chocolate has completely hardened, remove the tapes and gently peel the snowflake away from the wax paper.
And keep in mind… if you place this snowflake in the freezer for 5 minutes, removing it from the wax paper becomes even easier.

I loved your idea and shared it with my followers on my blog about Winter Themed Birthday Parties. It is such a “sweet” (no pun) idea for Birthday parties and winter showers. I linked it back to your blog. Hope you get lots of visitors. 🙂
