I am absolutely smitten with today’s cake. The light romantic colors and the intricate braid design just work together to create a flawless overall design.

If you know how to braid your hair, you can also braid fondant and decorate this beautiful cake.

You don’t need any tools or any cutters to make this easy cake… Yay!

To make this cake, you will need the following supplies:

Round mango cake (Dimensions: 8×4)
Mango frosting
White fondant
Pink fondant
Green fondant
White edible pearls
Paintbrush
Corn syrup or Royal icing

These are the instructions:

Step 1:
Bake your mango cake and frost it in mango frosting or buttercream icing.
Cover the entire cake in white fondant.
Keep this cake aside for now.

Step 2:
Roll out 3 balls of pink of fondant that are approximately the same size.

Step 3:
Roll the three balls into long ropes.
Squeeze the ends of those three ropes near the top, until they stick together.

Step 4:
Now, gently just start braiding these ropes like you would braid your hair.

Step 5:
Brush a thin coating of corn syrup or royal icing on the top edges of your cake.
Stick the pink braid around the top of the cake.

Note:
Since fondant is fragile, your braid can break. But don’t worry…just align all the small braid pieces together like I did in this picture.

Step 6:
Follow steps 2-5 again but this time, use green fondant.
Work your way inwards and stick the green fondant braids in a circular formation.

Brush corn syrup or royal icing in the center.
Fill this empty space by sticking a long green braid in a circular formation.
Toss some white edible pearls on top of the cake.
