How to Make Poinsettia Cupcakes

by Louise 1 Comment

I am sharing a tutorial for beautiful poinsettia cupcakes today. They are lovely to make during the holiday season, especially Christmas.

But if you use different colored icings, you can make different colors of flowers that would be great for Spring time too.

To make these cupcakes, you will need the following supplies:

Vanilla cupcakes
Green, red and yellow buttercream icing
Tip # 366
Tip # 104
Tip # 3

These are the instructions:

Step 1:
Fill a piping bag with green icing and attach Tip # 104
Hold the bag at a 45 degree angle and start moving it in a right and left motion around the outer edge of the cupcake.

Step 2:
Continue to do this until the entire outer edge is covered in green ruffles.

Step 3:
Fill a piping bag with red icing and attach Tip # 366
Hold the bag at a 45 degree angle along the edge of the green ruffles.
Squeeze the bag until icing comes out and then pull towards yourself.
Continue to do this until you have a complete row of petals.

Step 4:
Then, move inwards and do the same thing…
Squeeze the bag until icing comes out and pull towards yourself.

Finally, fill a piping bag with yellow icing and attach Tip # 3.
Hold the bag at a 90 degree angle.
Squeeze the bag in the center of the flower and quickly pull your hand away.

Step 7:
Do this as many times as needed, until you have a center filled with little yellow dots.
