How to Make Monkey Cupcake Toppers

February 28, 2014 by CJ [email protected] Leave a Comment

Monkey cupcake topper

Animal cupcake toppers are a fun way to dress up any cupcakes. They can be used for any occasion: baby shower, birthday cakes, etc. These monkey cupcake toppers are super cute and really easy to make.

Here is what I used:

Fondant (ivory and brown)
Rolling pin
Edible black marker
Zacto knife
Round cutter (about the size of your cupcake circumference)
Edible gum glue
Any piping tip
JEM tool- Flower Veiner # 12

monkey (10) (525x350)

Step 1:

Roll out a brown piece of fondant to a 1/4 of an inch thick. Using the large round cutter, make a cut.

Step 2:

Using the brown fondant, roll two medium size balls smoothly. Then using your finger or your thumb, press onto the fondant. Using the end of the JEM tool, create a pocket in each piece of fondant. This will create the Monkey’s ears.

Step 3:

Using edible gum glue, glue the ears onto the base of the topper.

Step 4:

Roll out two small balls using the ivory fondant. Glue them onto the base of the Monkey.  This will be for the monkey’s eyes. Be sure to glue them close together or even over-lapping slightly.

Step 5:

Roll out a medium ball with the ivory fondant. Press down the fondant into an oval shape and glue it onto the base of the monkey under the eyes. This will be for the mouth and face of the monkey.

Step 6:

With a tiny piece of ivory fondant, roll a tiny ball. This will be for the nose of the monkey.  Glue onto the face.
